Wednesday suppers continue through June 5; Sunday suppers continue year-round!

Sunday suppers

Since last fall, many have been enjoying healthy food (delicious, hearty soups and salads) and fellowship between the Celtic service and Compline on Sunday evenings. For the summer, we’re taking our Sunday Suppers outside (weather permitting) and adding healthy, locally produced food—some cooked on the grill—lawn games, and more! The summer menus will be built around fresh and seasonal ingredients, many of which will be available from the Farmers Market @ St. Stephen’s. If you attend the Celtic service at 5:30 p.m., the Compline service at 8 p.m., or both, please come to the Fellowship Hall anytime between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. to enjoy fellowship and food. Donations are welcome, but not required.

We are looking for volunteers to help shop at the market on Saturday and/or prepare food on Sunday afternoons (directions provided; no cooking skills required).

Do you love to grill? Are you looking for a service opportunity that your whole family can do together? Do you have friends with whom you’d like to work on a project?  Are you looking to meet new people? Contact Dessa Fejta in the parish office to sign up for any Sunday from June 2 through August 25, or see the sign-up sheets at Information Central.

Wednesday suppers

Each Wednesday evening during the program (academic) year, St. Stephen's offers an informal parish supper in the Fellowship Hall (the very large room in the parish house). "Wonderful Wednesdays" are a great way to get to know others in this large parish, and the delicious suppers prepared by our minister of food service and several volunteers provide time for families, couples and friends to reconnect at the dinner table without having to worry about cooking or cleaning up.

Wonderful Wednesdays suppers will be held through Wednesday, June 5.

Supper is served buffet style from 5:45 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Prices are $3 for children age 11 and under, $7 for adults, and a $20 maximum per family. (You can bring cash or a check, and discounted meal cards are also available for purchase at the dinners.)

A number of small groups meet on Wednesday night following the supper, as well, including some Emmaus Groups, Disciple Bible Study and the Prayer Shawl MinistryMany people like to come early for a brief service of Evening Prayer in the church (5:30 p.m.) with the Virginia Girls Choir. Read more about this offering here.
