Pastoral Care Groups

Prayer Shawl Ministry | Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m. (September-May)
This drop-in group gathers in the Lounge each Wednesday following the Wonderful Wednesdays supper to knit, pray and enjoy one another’s company. Prayer shawls are knitted for distribution to those in our parish to whom we wish to give a tangible expression of love and prayers. Several times each year, we gather the shawls and bless them in church before they are distributed.

Pastoral Care Teams (Year-round)
Groups of parishioners work with our clergy to provide the best possible pastoral care for those in need. Team members have different gifts: some visit parishioners in their homes or in the hospital; some make phone calls or write notes; some are Lay Eucharistic Visitors, taking the Sacrament to those who are unable to attend services; some make (or deliver) cookies or casseroles as tangible signs of caring. All desire to represent the prayers and compassion of the larger St. Stephen’s community to parishioners who are alone or in any kind of need. Weekly assignments tend to the many pastoral care needs of our large parish, and team members can expect to be called upon approximately every 4-6 weeks.
