Art at St. Stephen's Church
For many people, the visual arts offer a path to God, just as music and poetry do. At St. Stephen's Church, several avenues are open to artists and to those who want to see their work.
We offer an annual workshop led by a renowned iconographer, Suzanne Jones Schleck. You can read more about this summer offering here (spoiler alert: it fills up quickly every year!).
Many people who have taken these workshops here, and/or elsewhere, gather regularly to work on their current projects through an "icon guild." You can read more about this group here.
Parishioners and others with a connection to St. Stephen's Church exhibit their art in a small gallery off the Large Fellowship Hall. Information about upcoming exhibitors is published in the Spirit and eSpirit, our weekly periodicals. Stop by the gallery space anytime the parish house is open to take in the current exhibit and read more about the artist. Some pieces are available for purchase, with a percentage of the proceeds donated to the church. Purchases may be made in the Café @ St. Stephen's (both for work exhibited in the café, and work exhibited in the gallery adjacent to the fellowship hall.)
To inquire about exhibiting your work, please leave a message in the parish office, 804.288.2867.
